Chef Vikram Garg Cooks Taste of Punjab~ Purchase Tickets

Chef Vikram GargNov. 28, 2018 (HONOLULU)–Chef Vikram Garg will cook the food of his homeland on Sunday, Jan. 20, 6 p.m. at The Kahala Hotel and Resort in a unique dinner experience benefiting the Hawaii Culinary Education Foundation.

The Indian feast will be served family-style spotlighting the regional ingredients and flavors of this vast country. Garg will be hosted by The Kahala Executive Chef Wayne Hirabayashi.

Garg will draw upon his experience growing up at Port Blair, Andaman Islands (between India and Myanmar) and his training as a chef at Delhi’s Oberoi School of Hotel Management. His culinary skills in preparing Indian food were finely tuned at India’s top five star hotels.

Before coming to Hawaii in 2008, Garg was the executive chef of Indebleu in Washington, D.C. where the cuisine of his homeland starred. He is currently the Operating Partner/Chef, Hospitality Division for The MacNaughton Group. For Hawaii foodies the Jan. 20 dinner will be a unique opportunity to dine on fine Indian cuisine, paired with wines donated by Young’s Market Company Hawaii.

The dinner is a benefit for the Hawaii Culinary Education Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides educational programs for culinary students enrolled in the state’s culinary education programs. Local, national and international chefs, cookbook authors and food and wine experts are featured in HCEF programs, providing cutting edge and out-of-the-classroom culinary experiences that broaden students’ awareness of the culinary world.

The state’s six community college culinary programs as well as high school programs benefit from HCEF’s presentations. Proceeds from the event will fund future events for students as well as professionals in the culinary field.
