The golf tournament, sponsored by Young’s Market Company and American Express, is coordinated by board members Philana Bouvier, Young’s Market and Tom Mullen, American Express. According to Tom Mullen, Chair of the Foundation, “Last year’s tournament raised over $35,000 to benefit Island culinary programs.”
Celebrity chefs and food personalities participate in the day-long celebration with award-winning food served by HONOLULU Magazine’s Hale ‘Aina ‘Award winning restaurants. The tournament begins with a noon shotgun start and concludes with a sumptuous awards reception.
The tournament raffle features thousands of dollars in prizes including neighbor island trips, amazing electronics and luxury gift certificates. Golfers have numerous chances to win gifts in the hole-in-one, closest to the pin, putting, chipping and driving competitions.
The tournament is the Foundation’s key fundraiser, allowing the organization to sponsor
educational culinary projects throughout the Islands. Programming includes Center of the Plate workshops led by award-winning Hawaii chefs and visiting Master Chef Events.
The Foundation supported programs bring local, mainland and international chefs into the classroom in order to present intensive learning experiences for culinary/chef instructors and local culinary students.
